Advances in healthcare and technology have been a true blessing, contributing to an increase in longevity all over the world.

According to the World Economic Forum, in 2020, for the first time in history, individuals aged 60 or older outnumbered children under the age of five.

Older adults are keen to try out new activities, stay healthy, have fun, and find a sense of purpose in their later years.

No one enjoys growing old, that’s why MacCare is focussing on improving the quality of life for our residents. Creative activity is but one of many ways, of achieving this goal.

We have found that our arts and crafts sessions are beneficial in that they give our residents a sense of purpose, unleash their creativity, and encourage interaction with others.

Taking part in creative activities helps with focus and concentration.

Attending our arts and crafts sessions, we have found that it helps our residents to form new friendships with like-minded people.

As our residents practice their arts or crafts regularly, they see an improvement in their skill level which leads to improved confidence.

No matter what our age, it’s never too late to try something new, explore, have fun, find a sense of purpose, taking time to reflect and recharge – but most importantly, to thrive!
