Foot problems tend to arise as we age. Feet lose cushioning over time, and the nails and skin can grow brittle and dry. Many seniors suffer with recurring foot pain and this is where care workers can help alleviate the discomfort.
During a pedicure, you receive a massage of your feet and lower legs. The massaging helps promote the circulation of your blood. Increased blood circulation can prevent things like pain, arthritis, and varicose veins. Healthy blood flow also helps evenly distribute heat throughout your body.
Not just that, taking the time to have your feet pampered, can do wonders for your stress levels! The massage, relaxing experience, and pampering will free your mind from any tension – boosting your mental health.
Our residents at The Somerset Care Centre were treated to pedicures and enjoyed the sensory pleasures of a spa. At the same time, our care workers and students learned about the importance of foot and nail care.
